Two rigorous five-week intensives—Physical Theater and Self-Generated Theater—offer distinct paths of study that, when taken together, create a singular ten-week immersion in performance and original work.

16 hours of class per week + rehearsals

Led by renowned performance artist and mime Bill Bowers, the Physical Theater Lab is a five-week program for actors, dancers and movement artists who want to create original physical theater work, and also become more technically proficient and physically responsive actors. Classes meet for 16 hours per week (plus rehearsals) and provide rigorous training in physical movement taught by world class performers and teaching artists, including the studio’s Movement Theater Master Teacher Joanne Edelmann.

The Self-Generated Theater Lab is intended for a new generation of theater artists who yearn to upend tradition by generating new work and new ways of working. All participants will be led through the creation of one-person and ensemble-developed theater for which the raw materials emerge from the imagination of the generating artists. The Lab will also explore industry best practices for producing.
