Hi ATME friends, I look forward to seeing you in Baltimore this summer. It's taken a long while to get back on the road after Covid, but I am now touring my shows around the globe! IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING Join us for this fun and unflinching look at the life and mimes of Bill Bowers. It Goes Without Saying takes the audience on a scenic tour of Bill's life thus far: from growing up gay in the wilds of Montana, his outrageous jobs as a performer, studying with Marcel Marceau, and the whirlwind of working on Broadway. Bill observes the incredible power that silence can wield - whether on stage, between family members, among neighbors, or when we are alone. Bill talks (yes, talks) with sensitivity, precision, and constant humor about a life lived out loud. The wry wit of a natural comedian, the magic of mime, and the tragedy of ‘Angels in America’ distilled into a solo show. Actor and mime artist Bill Bowers offers the audience a chronological narrative of his remarkable life story, and exquisitely conveys various characters and situations using no props whatsoever – he doesn’t need them. His act is both entertaining and deeply moving, as well as being a lesson in personal history, from the trail his Scottish ancestors took across America, to the Cold War locked-down mindset of his family in the 50s, to the infamous HIV epidemic of the 80s; the latter in which he suffered a great loss. This powerful show is a rare privilege to watch. A 5 Star review from 3 Weeks Magazine, Edinburgh Fringe Review BEYOND WORDS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6l_VbQXU_c One the most acclaimed multi-disciplinary artists in America today, Bill Bowers employs an eloquent mixture of music, monologues and mime in his on-going investigation of the silence surrounding the enigmatic matters of gender in our culture today. Often compared to Chaplin and Keaton Bowers has performed throughout the U.S., Europe, and Asia. With both audacity and compassion, he explores what it means to be a boy and the messages we receive on our way to becoming men. It is an inclusive montage that celebrates maleness and humanity in capacious terms rather than any narrow punitive viewpoint that diminished us all
l. Fascinating. Affecting. “Beyond Words” is engaging to the eye and ear. New York Times He presents a portrait of small-town America filtered through his own experiences that’s both moving and funny. Bowers effortlessly brings us to laughter and tears, often at the same time. New York Post
